Homework Help

Monday through Thursday we have something called homework time. They have a chance to work on their homework and get help from our staff. If they don’t have homework they can draw or read.

Active Play

Getting enough active time is super important for everyone. Every day we have some time for the kids to get out some extra energy and have some fun.

Troops

Troops is the Salvation Army’s version of the Girl/Boy Scouts. We teach the kids different topics such as space exploration, insect life, friendship. When they complete the class they earn emblems!

Weekly Devotions

The Salvation Army is a faith-based organization. We organize fun, interactive weekly Devotions where we share bible stories and music with our kids. We use a curriculum called Orange that has engaging videos and activities.

Gardening

We are blessed to have a garden on our property. We want to teach the children in our Child Care Program, the knowledge and skills on how to take care of plants, so they can grow vegetables and flowers with confidence.

Arts & Crafts

An after school program wouldn’t be complete without arts and crafts! During arts and crafts time our children can release their inner artist abilities, as they thrive to learn more talents in this area.

Electives

During the 2023-2024 school year, we implemented a new activity into our weekly program called Electives. The children had a choice to either participate in a cooking class, art class, or music class.

This was a huge success. We will be announcing this years elective choices soon!

Here are some highlights from last year:

Cooking elective

In the Cooking elective we learned about kitchen safety, sanitation, and how to following recipes. Each child also had the opportunity to lead the group in a recipe of their choosing. Recipes included crapes, pumpkin bread, pizza, popsicles, and pigs in a blanket.

Art Elective

In the art elective we learned the basics of drawing. Including, sketching, shading and line art.

We practiced our new skills by drawing popular cartoon characters including Mickey Mouse, Baymax, Midnight and more!

Music Elective

In the music elective we learned the basics to reading sheet music. We practiced this skill by playing the p-cornet and using drum practice pads.

School Day Off Programing

Select full day programing is available on some out of school days. Full days run from 8am to 4pm and include breakfast, lunch, and snack. Our full days often involve off site field trips, arts & crafts, active play, and STEM.

The cost of the program is $20 added to the weekly ASP tuition. Children who are not currently enrolled in ASP can register for full days if they are between the ages of 5 and 12, all required registration documents are submitted, and a onetime fee of $50 is paid.
